A Warwick woman awoke to find a thief in her bedroom stealing her purse on Wednesday night, according to a Police report.

Police spokesperson Dwayne Caines said that at 11.50 p.m., Police attended a Spring Hill home and where the resident said around 9.30 p.m. she secured her home before going off to bed.

?However, at 11.30 p.m., she was awakened by a noise in her home,? Mr. Caines said. ?She opened her eyes and noticed a light-skinned man removing her purse from beside her bedside table.

?However, the culprit made good his escape before she could get a good look at him. She could only describe him as a light-skinned male around six feet tall, wearing a red jersey with a white stripe,? he said. The thief stole a Nokia cellular phone and a host of other personal items.

It was also discovered that a second home ? on Grace Lane in Pembroke ? had been broken into at 3.30 p.m. that same day.

The resident told Police that sometime between 8.30 a.m. and 3 p.m., someone broke into her home and made an ?untidy search of the premises looking for money or valuables?.

?It is unclear at this point whether anything was taken,? Mr. Caines said. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact Central CID at 295-0011.
