Women denies forgery charges
A 43-year-old woman yesterday denied forging cheques worth more than $5,800.
Donna Marie Saltus, of Court Street, was charged in Magistrates' Court with a total of 22 counts including receiving seven Bank of Butterfield cheques knowing they were unlawfully obtained, forgery, fraudulently uttering cheques, making false documents and obtaining money under false pretences.
The court heard that Saltus allegedly obtained a total of $4,408 from Susan Ann Williams' account.
Saltus was also charged with a total of 12 counts including forgery, fraudulently uttering cheques, and obtaining a total of $1,450 from false pretences.
The money was allegedly taken from Neal Stephens' and Mary Elizabeth Stephens' account.
Magistrate Edward King told Saltus to get a lawyer and set a trial date for both matters on January 6.
Mr. King set bail at $2,000 with one surety.
