Mothers of Paget Primary School students had a special treat during the school?s Mother?s Day assembly yesterday.

Teachers called on the students, who had written essays on why their mothers should be Mother of the Year, to read their pieces during the assembly.

After the reading the mothers were presented with a flower and the essay.

Sakaela Ebbin-Smith said she and her mother, Nakita Ebbin, were like ?two peas in a pod?.

?I like to be with my mother and she is a nice person to talk to,? said the primary four student. She has really lovely jokes and she is really loving. It is like she is the roof on my house.?

Kenya Simons said her mother, Vermont, worked hard for herself and her brother.

?My mother helps me to read and she encourages me to read all sorts of books,? said Kenya.

?She supports everybody and that is why she is a beautiful and wonderful mother.?

Tahjae Darrell said his mom, Patricia Darrell, was his best friend and that she always had energy for him.

He said: ?She has a lot of knowledge. She is my guiding light.?

Paulette Jones? son, Keevin Bailey, said his mother was best at encouraging him even when he stressed her out.

?She tells me to pay attention and I can make the honour roll,? said Keevin. ?She puts me and my brother first.?

Shandae Simons said sometimes his mother, Denise Simons, was like a witch and her finger controlled everything.

?When she has time to relax, she is always doing something for my brother and I, like going for a bike ride on the tracks,? said the primary six student.

?She is the best friend that I have and she will never give up on me.?

Daelan Richardson, who is in primary three, said of his mother, Antoinette: ?She provides me with food, clothes, shoes and a nice home.?

Timina Simmons said her mother, Marcia, should be mother of the year because she was so thoughtful.

?She thinks about me a lot,? said the third grader, ?She is always helping me with things I can?t do myself.

?She is as perfect as a diamond.?

Nathalie Dill?s son, Stefan, said she was an excellent kite maker, flyer and pitcher, who also regularly reads to him at bedtime.

?She helps me with my homework and to spell words that I don?t know,? said Stefan.

?She takes good care of me.?

Dennika Bean?s daughter, Makayla Paul, said her mother was so special to her.

?She reminds me to keep up the good work, both home and at school,? said Makayla.

Primary two student Jordan Costa said he loved when his mother, Lucy, took him in to her job and when she hugs him.

Taja? Hunt said his mother, Territa Ray, who works in the Bank of Bermuda was special because she always kisses him.

Dollita Smith?s daughter, Mykaelah Smith, said her mother always makes her happy.

Kim Smith?s daughter Kia said she loved it when her mother took her to church.

?My mom says she loves me all the time,? said the primary two student.

Primary one student Tahjae Welch said he loved his mother Tahkeesha because she always tucks him into bed and blows him kisses.
