Hundreds of Works and Engineering staff are to receive a special plaque in thanks for the work they did putting the Island back on its feet after Hurricane Fabian.

Government has ordered 366 plaques from Washington Lane Engravers to be presented to staff.

Works and Engineering staff have had praise heaped on them for their work after Fabian, particularly in repairing the badly-damaged Causeway.

Now they will get an eight-inch by ten-inch memento to record the thanks of Government for their efforts.

Washington Lane Engravers owner Suzanne DeCouto said it was one of the biggest orders here company has ever had, although she refused to say how much the plaques would cost.

The plaques thank the staff for their "significant contribution" to Bermuda in the aftermath of Fabian.

Mrs. DeCouto said: "I guess they want to thank everyone and it is a nice little recognition."
