A steady stream of people has been flowing into City Hall to sign a condolence book for the victims of last week's terrorist attacks in the United States, The Royal Gazette was told.

Corporation of Hamilton Secretary Roger Sherratt said yesterday that over 100 expressions of grief and support have been recorded in the book since it was placed in the City Hall foyer last Friday.

"Some very touching comments have been made," he said.

Mr. Sherratt said the book will remain in the foyer until Friday for anyone who wishes to send their thoughts or prayers on to the United States following the attacks in New York and Washington, DC and the plane crash in Pennsylvania.

"People from all walks of life have been coming through," he said. "We've collected comments from a good cross-section of people - Americans, overseas people and Bermuda residents."

Mr. Sherratt said the condolence book is intended to be presented to the US Government - possibly through the local US Consul General - as a gesture of compassion and support from Bermuda.
