Wyndham International should take over management of the Sonesta Beach hotel by May 15, according to its communications vice president, Darcie Brossart.

Ms Brossart said that final details are being worked out with property owner Clifford Schorer.

"We are hoping that when the documents are signed that Wydnham will be the flag flying on the property when it reopens on May 15," Ms Brossart said.

The company has some 40 hotels, including ten luxury resorts, the majority of which are in the United States, but it is the largest hotelier in the Caribbean. The company ran the Elbow Beach ten years ago

"We have not been in that (Bermuda) market for about a decade, so we've had our sights out looking for an opportunity to come back and this is the perfect opportunity for it."

She said: "The appeal is another resort market to grow our distribution and our brand. Our marketing and sales reach is vast. Our track record of operating successful resort properties speaks for itself."

Ms Brossart said that Wyndham employees benefit from competitive packages and a management philosophy which allows them to "give the best of themselves".

"Certainly what will differentiate Wyndham from its competitors is that we offer personalised guest experiences rather than points programmes. We customise our guest rooms based on what the consumer wants it to be. We treat all of our customers as individuals with the Wyndham By Request programme," she added.

"We know how to do it. We know how to do it right, we know how to come into a resort, quickly take over management, operate it efficiently and successfully as well as create an environment where employees feel they can contribute."

She said it was hoped that the agreement will be finalised within the next few days.
