Bermuda Idol's Mets performance delayed
The New York Mets have rescheduled Bermuda Idol Larrita Adderley to sing the U.S. National Anthem at Shea Stadium on September 22, the second Bermuda Night of the 2008 baseball season.
Ms Adderley was originally scheduled to sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" on May 12, the first Bermuda Night of 2008. The schedule change is the result of a double booking. A cast member from the Broadway musical "Hairspray" was inadvertently set to perform on the same night as Ms Adderley, according to the Premier's press secretary Glenn Jones.
"Since the 'Hairspray' performer could not be rescheduled, everyone agreed to move Larrita's date to the second Bermuda Night. It was a pretty obvious solution," he explained. "This may be a blessing in disguise — presumably more Bermudians will have time to plan for the second Bermuda Night and be a part of this exciting partnership. The last few weeks have revealed a local interest in the Mets much higher than I ever expected."
