Underage rider leads Police on wild chase, cycle, Police car damaged

Two teenagers and two Police officers were injured during a Police chase on Friday night.

A Police car was in pursuit of a motorcycle in Westside Road, Sandys when the incident occurred around 8.25 p.m. According to a Police spokesman, the bike was reported stolen on October 20.

"It appears that the rider of the motorcycle lost control, collided with a wall and both he and his pillion passenger fell to the ground," the spokesman said. The officers avoided collision with the pair but crashed into a wall.

"At no time did the Police vehicle come into contact with the motorcycle or suspects. The rider of the 125cc motorcycle, a 15-year-old young man from Southampton sustained bruising to his hands and his passenger, a 14-year-old young man from Warwick sustained an injury to his left leg.

"The Police car's airbags deployed and as a result, the female Police officer driving the vehicle and her front seat passenger, a male Police officer, sustained relatively minor injuries."

The 14-year-old was being treated on a ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital yesterday, where his condition was described by a spokeswoman as "stable".

The other teenager and both Police officers were treated at the hospital and released. Both the Police car and the motorcycle were extensively damaged. Police have asked any witnesses to the collision to contact Sergeant Allan Meiguel on 234-1010.

The court heard from Crown counsel Paula Tyndale that Chasty walked into the store at 5 p.m. on October 24 and was observed walking around and leaving twice.
