Constituency 17, Pembroke Central, is made up of 1,052 people excluding non-Bermudian registered voters, according to the 2000 census.

The census, the most updated population data from the Department of Statistics, offered information for each constituency on race, income, age and sex.

There are 754 blacks, 233 whites, 28 mixed, 36 other and one not stated as far as the racial breakdown.

For the income breakdown, the census showed 849 people who have an annual income with 378 people earning $32,000 or less, 398 residents earning between $32,000 and $62,000 and 67 people earning $62,000 plus. Six residents did not state their annual income.

For the 1,053 residents, 471 are male and 581 are female. The census showed the biggest age group was 30 to 65 followed by the 16 to 30 year olds and finally the senior citizens, 65 plus.
