Couple in hospital after rental cycle collides with bus

A Pennsylvania couple on vacation in Bermuda were injured when their rental bike came into collision with a bus yesterday.

A Police spokesman said the wife, aged 30, suffered injuries to her left hand and leg. The husband, aged 31, suffered a shoulder injury plus cuts and abrasions.

The casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance after the collision on Somerset Road, Sandys, near the junction with Scaur Lane, at 3.45 p.m. The road was closed for around an hour. No injuries were reported on the bus.

The woman was said by a hospital spokeswoman to be in the operating room at press time, with the man still being assessed in the emergency room. The cause of the collision remained unclear, with Police investigations ongoing last night.
