Former Saltus head girl wins scholarship to McGill University
A former head girl of Saltus Grammar School won a scholarship to a prestigious Canadian university.
Brittany Dawn Farias was awarded the annual Dudley & Deborah Butterfield Scholarship 2007 for study at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
Brittany, who started at Saltus at the age of 5, graduated this year with Distinction, and achieved the third highest academic achievement in her graduating class
On top of her Head Girl duties Brittany was also the chairperson of the Student Council and participated in the Global Youth Leadership Conference in both Washington DC and New York in 2006.
She has also represented Bermuda at Field Hockey in the Junior Pan Am Game in Puerto Rico.
While at McGill University she will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
The McGill Bermuda Scholarship Trust was established in Bermuda in 1988 as a result of a generous donation from Mr. Dudley & Mrs. Deborah Butterfield, together with the collective contributions of many McGill graduates in Bermuda. The Trust offers the Dudley & Deborah Butterfield Scholarship and the McGill Bermuda Scholarship in alternate years.
Each scholarship is tenable for up to four years of study in a degree program at McGill University.
