Four drunk drivers caught over a three-week period of July were banned from the road for a year and fined $1,000 in Magistrate's Court.

Stevan Bremar, Charles Doyle, Troy Laws and Vincent Lightbourne all pleaded guilty yesterday in Magistrate's Court to driving while drunk.

Bremar, 56, was driving along Southside Road, St. George's, at 10.45 p.m. on July 6 when he tried to go around the roundabout to turn onto Wescott Lane.

He lost control of his black motorcycle hitting a shoulder of the roundabout and crashed causing minor injuries to his left shoulder.

The Police were called to the scene and noticed that the area was clear, dry and there were no other vehicles present.

Bremar was then arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Two days later at 2.40 a.m. on July 8 Doyle was found drunk driving along Harbour Road.

Police who were on mobile patrol on Court Street were called with information about a motorcyclist who was stopped on suspicion of drunk driving at the junction of Harbour Road and Pomander Gate.

When they arrived they spoke with Doyle who said he had only had two drinks. The Police, however, noticed he was slurring his words and arrested him.

Later that same morning at 3.30 a.m., Laws was arrested for drunk driving after officers noticed the 33-year-old swerving along Ord. Road and driving through the junction with Southcote Road in Paget, without stopping. Laws told Police he had only had two drinks.

Finally on July 21, Lightbourne, of Scaur Lane, Sandys, was arrested at 3.35 a.m. after Police watched him swerving and speeding in his car along Somerset Road.

The assistant manager of a construction site and father of two, told Police he had only had three drinks, however, officers smelled the alcohol on his breath. Police cautioned the Sandys man and arrested him.

Acting Magistrate Tyrone Chin suspended all four men from vehicles for a year and $1,000 fines each.
