Gang kicks man to ground in robbery
A gang kicked a man to the ground in a robbery in Pembroke on Monday.
The 38-year-old man was walking along Princess Street towards Angle Street at 10.40 p.m. when someone pushed him from behind.
A Police spokesman said: "He was then assaulted by four unknown men, who kicked and punched him about the body before taking a brown wallet containing a quantity of cash."
The gang ran off towards Dundonald Street. Despite bruises to his right foot, pain in his face and left arm, the man refused medical treatment. The suspects are described as four black males. One was 5ft, 5in tall, of heavy build and wore a black T-shirt and pants. The others wore white and black T-shirts. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295 0011.
• A teenager received head injuries in a collision in St. George's on Monday.
The accident happened at 10.20 p.m. in Old Military Road near the junction with Slippery Hill, and involved a jeep and rental cycle.
A Police spokesman said: "It appears that the rental cycle was travelling east on Old Military Road and the jeep was travelling in the opposite direction, when the vehicles collided as the cycle attempted to negotiate a right-hand bend.
"The rider of the rental cycle, a 17-year-old man from St. George's, received multiple injuries including head injuries."
The teenager was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but discharged yesterday. The other driver, a 46-year-old man from St. George's, was uninjured.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact PC Jason Robinson at the Southside Police Station on 293 2222.
