<Bz23>Hamilton man remains in hospital following gang attack
A Hamilton man remained in the hospital last night after sustaining injuries during an attack in the early hours.
At 1.15 a.m. yesterday, Police arrived at the junction of Tribe Road #5 and Ord Road in Paget to find the 40-year old victim sitting in his car.
The man said he was driving to the junction when three cars arrived and surrounded him. A group of men, then got out of their vehicles and began to attack him.
The men also descended on the car striking it with baseball bats and machetes.
All of the attackers managed to flee before the Police arrived and the 40 year-old and a 44 year-old man, believed to be the passenger at the time of the attack, were transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The 40 year-old man sustained lacerations to his right arm and leg and required surgery, however, remained in stable condition on a general ward last night.
Police continue to investigate the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
