A Paget man, who claimed he only drank two beers after a long day of work, received the maximum fine for impaired driving yesterday in Magistrates' Court.
Lincon Razario, 27, of Bostock Hill West, was arrested in the early hours of June 27 when officers on Front Street noticed a grey bike travelling east. The driver was wobbling from side to side and speeding up and slowing down.
Officers noticed his eyes were glazed and his breath smelled of alcohol. Rozario told the officers he only drank two beers and was felt alright to ride.
A breathalyser test revealed he had 159 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, the legal limit is 80 milligrams in 100 millilitres.
The defendant received a $1,000 fine and a one-year driving ban.
