Perverted the course of justice

A 24-year-old electrician pretended to be his cousin after being stopped for a traffic matter by Police.

Darren Williams, of Derwent Lane, Devonshire, pleaded guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice when he appeared at Magistrates' Court.

Crown counsel Larissa Burgess explained that Williams told officers who stopped him on Parsons Road, Pembroke, on September 9 that he was Jacoby Darrell. He later admitted this was not the case.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Williams $1,500 with four months in jail as the punishment for non-payment.
