'Recognition' funeral for Bishop Smith

Government has announced that Bishop Goodwin C. Smith who died this week will be given a "Recognition Funeral".
Bishop Smith's family has agreed to the honour and the Cabinet Office will provide assistance with the arrangements. The idea of the funeral is to honour individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community of Bermuda.
Funerals of this nature are afforded at the request of the Premier, after consultation with the Leader of the Opposition.
Premier, Ewart Brown said: "We could do no less for such a great man of God, and it is fitting that we properly salute this dynamic public servant in a manner befitting his tireless years of dedication and commitment to making Bermuda a better place."
