Tourists robbed at a bus stop

Two American tourists were robbed as they waited for a bus on South Shore Road on Saturday.The incident happened at around 5 p.m. by the bus stop at Warwick Camp.The pair were approached by two men who assaulted the man before taking their wallets, cash and a camera.

The pair were approached by two men who assaulted the man before taking their wallets, cash and a camera.

A Police spokesman said: "One of the men assaulted the 25-year-old male visitor before both suspects made good their escape on foot with the victims' property.

"This consisted of a brown men's wallet, a blue ladies' purse, an Olympus digital camera, a quantity of cash and personal items.

"The male visitor did not report receiving any injuries as a result of the assault," Police said. "The 23-year-old female visitor was not assaulted."

Police have described the suspects as dark-skinned, six-foot tall, slim, with short hair, and wearing dark clothing.

Any witnesses are urged to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

And on Friday, burglars stole a laptop and digital camera from a house in Warwick.

The break-in, at a property in Tribe Road Two, took place between 6.30 a.m. and 9 p.m.

A Sony Cybershot digital camera, an Apple laptop, a Motorola cellular phone and quantity of cash were reported stolen.

Inquiries into these incidents are underway.
