Witness appeal after car and truck collide
Police are appealing for witnesses after a car and a truck collided yesterday morning in Southampton near the junction with Church Road. Around 11.30, according to Police, the truck was travelling east on Middle Road and the car, a grey Volkswagen, was travelling in the opposite direction when the colossal smash-up occurred.
The driver of the car, a 53-year-old Sandys Parish man sustained "superficial" injuries and was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) and released.
However, the car's front seat passenger, a 48-year-old Sandys man sustained serious facial injuries. He was last night being treated on a general ward at KEMH. The truck driver, a 51-year-old Warwick man was not injured. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact P.c. Rajiv Bailey at 234-1010, to assist with their investigation or call the main police number at 295-0011.
¿A motorcyclist is still in a critical condition after a road accident in Middle Road, Southampton.
@$:The 27-year-old Devonshire man was last night described as "still critical but stable" by a spokesman for King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. He is currently in Intensive Care.
The man was heading east near the junction of Middle Road with Camp Hill Road on Wednesday at 2.50 a.m. when he was in collision with a car heading in the opposite direction. The bike then careered into a wall. A pillion passenger, a 21-year-old Devonshire man, suffered less serious injuries and was released from hospital. The driver of the car, a 34-year-old Southampton man, was uninjured.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact Pc Vivian Philgence on 234 1010.
