Credit card thief awaits sentencing

A man who used a stolen credit card to buy more than $1,200 worth of goods will remain in Police custody until his sentencing.

Michael Eugene Smith, 23, of no fixed abode, faced seven charges of dishonesty after he received a stolen credit card and used it to buy clothes, shoes and jewellery from two Hamilton stores, namely Sports Locker and Everrich Jewlery, on May 18 and May 21.

Smith admitted to dishonestly obtaining the goods, forging another person's signature and using that signature with the intent to deceive the sales clerks.

He is due to appear back in court on October 12.
