Amateur photographer Allen Foley caught this spectacular picture of a vapour trail in the heavens yesterday afternoon.

He believes the stunning natural display may be connected with the meteor shower Perseids which is passing the Island this weekend.

Mr. Foley said he spotted the phenomenon by chance as he was driving to his Paget home just after 1 p.m.

"I didn't know what it was, it was very strange stuff. I've never seen anything like it," he said, after rushing home and managing to catch it with his new high resolution Pentax DSLR camera.
