Kindle e-reader the top prize in essay competition for young people
Young people have been encouraged to enter an essay competition to celebrate Earth Hour 2011.“The power of one: I can make Bermuda’s energy future greener,” is the theme of the competition, hosted by Belco in collaboration with the National Library, Youth Services and Greenrock.It is open to young people aged nine to 18 and is intended to make them think creatively about renewable energy, as well as improve their literacy skills.Minister of Public Information Services Neletha Butterfield told the House of Assembly: “It is hoped that all students wil take advantage of this essay competition to research about the topic and think creatively about how they can make a difference to Bermuda’s future.”Prizes include a Kindle book reader and cash prizes for schools. The deadline is Friday March 4 and information about how to enter is available at www.belco.bm.
