Soldiers to train in UK
Bermuda Regiment soldiers are heading to England for top-level training, it was announced this week.
Officer Cadet Shea-Tai Smith will attend the commissioning course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Camberley, Surrey, throughout March as part of his 12-month officer training completion.
Four other Bermuda Regiment soldiers are deploying to the Leek Training Area, Staffordshire, later this week to continue their leadership and infantry training.
They aim to complete their Officer Commissioning Course at Sandhurst this September.
Officer Cadets Daevon Burgess, Kris Furbert, Mark Lavery and Ira Philip will undertake a full course of advanced infantry tactics, combat and leadership training alongside their British Army Officer Cadet counterparts.
All Officer Cadets hold full time employment outside of their Regiment duties and have been awarded time away from work to further their training. Commanding Officer Lt. Col. William White thanked their employers for recognising the importance of this training in both their military and civilian careers.
