Website tallys 1,000 members in four months

A local version of the popular website www.myspace.com celebrated 1,000 members yesterday since launching the website less than four months ago.

The "Big Bang" launch of www.vybezalliance.tv happened on April 12 with co-owner Qian Dickinson, otherwise known as popular deejay Vybez Alliance, announcing it on his weekly internet radio show. Mr. Dickinson owned another website at the time, www.vybezalliance.com. Mr. Dickinson is co-owner with Phil Davis.

According to Mr. Dickinson, the site averages around 250 new members a month from Bermuda all the way to Australia.

The site is an entertainment site similar to BermyNET or Blackandcoke but allows people to become a member and personalise their own page by uploading music and pictures. In addition to members pages, vybezalliance.tv features pictures from various events across the Island, a music room, video, events page and the newly added news page featuring news from Bermuda Network News.

Mr. Dickinson said: "It feels exciting to know that people are not only visiting the site, but supporting it by signing up and becoming members.

"With now more than 1,000 members, it's a community of Bermuda's top artists, DJs, producers, and promoters, businesses, and people from all walks of life that want to stay in touch with the entertainment and lifestyle scene here in Bermuda."

Mr. Dickinson and Mr. Davis thanked everyone who has supported the site so far.

They would also like to thank The Royal Gazette's Scott Neil for writing the first story about the website. For more information or to become a member, log on to www.vybezalliance.tv.
