A bad choice
motorcycle without a valid drivers' licence, but denied responsibility for two additional charges of riding an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle.
Judith DeMello of Friswell's Hill told the court that she borrowed the bike from an acquaintance who assured her the cycle was properly documented.
"I just borrowed it to go to the store to get some cigarettes and milk,'' she said.
DeMello said that she gave the two tickets concerning the motorcycle to the owner, assuming that it was his responsibility to clear the matter up with the authorities.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said TCD records show the motorcycle in question had not been licensed since March 30, 1991.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis advised DeMello to bring the owner of the bike with her when she appears for mention next month.
