hotel swimming pool was yesterday ruled accidental by Coroner William Francis.

Kwabena Aboo, of Maryland, died in the Sonesta Beach Hotel pool last August after going for an early-hour swim after coming to the Island to attend the wedding of friends from his home area.

Mr. Aboo and his wife, Ynonne Boohene, visited the pool around 2 a.m. on August 29 last year, only hours before they were due to return home.

Mr. Aboo got into difficulties and his wife -- a non-swimmer -- ran for help.

Despite desperate efforts by a Police patrol to revive him, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
