Magistrates' Court yesterday to eight months imprisonment.

Mother-of-one Kamala Battersbee, 25, of Spring Hill, Warwick had pleaded guilty to stealing the money and using it to buy heroin.

Sgt. Donald Grant had told the court previously that Battersbee went to William Young's home on October 3 while he was sitting on the porch.

He said Young knew Battersbee well because she often visited his home. She sat beside him and removed a wallet containing the money from his pocket and left.

She was arrested on October 27 and admitted she stole the wallet and used the money to buy drugs.

Battersbee has previous convictions for theft and other offences stretching back to 1987 and had a drugs problem.

Senior Magistrate Mr. Will Francis sentenced her to eight months imprisonment and placed her on two years probation.

David E. Pitcher, of Happy Valley Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday to possessing cocaine on August 24 on Perimeter Lane, Pembroke.

Prosecutor Sgt. John Dale said Police searched Pitcher and found two rocks of cocaine in Pitcher's pants pocket.

Pitcher asked Police: "Can you just take them and give me a break?'', he added.

Duty counsel Miss Kim Wilson told Acting Magistrate Mr. Kenneth Brown that Pitcher had no previous convictions.
