Dr. Richard Charles, who represents the Pan American region for the World Health Organisation, visited the Island last week.

During his visit he met with several people including the Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan, Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness and Cabinet secretary Mr. Leopold Mills.

"While (Bermuda) is managing it (AIDS) reasonably there is room for improvement, in terms of addressing issues of confidentiality...better pretest and post test counselling and greater moral support.'' Dr. Charles said Bermuda could also enhance the community's understanding and appreciation of the disease and its transmission.

This could be achieved through a strengthening of the educational wing of the local AIDS campaign, he said, and it was in this arena that his organisation could be of some assistance.
