Postmaster General Clevelyn Crichlow said the renovations were mainly for health/safety reasons.

"Because of a past robbery, they put up barriers to prevent anyone from getting at the counter,'' he said. "But when they put them up, there was no way for the person (behind the counter) to get out.

"So they are putting in an exit door and the floors are being redone.'' Customers who use Bailey's Bay Post Office will now have to go to Crawl Post Office on Radnor Road for their postal service.

Mr. Crichlow said the 56-year-old Bailey's Bay Post Office is mainly used for people dropping off mail and parcels and customers to pick up their parcels.

There is no delivery done out of the Post Office.
