Ban for drunken rider

Curry Burrows, of Glebe Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to riding along North Shore Road, Pembroke while impaired on August 19.

Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Police were driving behind Burrows when they noticed him swerving from side to side.

Upon stopping him, Police noticed his eyes were glazed, his speech was slurred and his breath smelled of alcohol.

Sgt. Taylor said subsequent tests showed that Burrows had at least 169 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis banned Burrows from driving all motor vehicles for a year and ordered him to pay a $400 fine.
