Bermuda, the United States and other overseas territories will now form an alliance to target drugs barons operating in the waters between here and the US.

Foreign Officer Minister John Battle announced that the agreement, which was signed by the former UBP Government in July 1998, had come into force.

He said: "This agreement is a significant step forward towards better international co-operation on frustrating drug traffickers throughout the waters of the Caribbean and Bermuda.

"We hope that closer co-ordinated operations and air and sea surveillance in the region will have the ultimate effect of reducing the availability of drugs on our streets.'' In practical terms, the agreement means each of the nations is allowed to enter territorial waters of another during the course of drugs operations.

TWO MEN HURT IN RECENT ATTACKS CRM Two men hurt in recent attacks A man suffered a cut to the head after an unprovoked attack in Hamilton during Wednesday afternoon.

The man was on Par-la-Ville Road near Church Street at 3.20 p.m. when he was approached by a man on an auxilliary cycle, who then attacked him causing a laceration to the head.

He was treated at hospital.

A number of people is said to have witnessed the incident and Police inquiries are underway.

And a 35-year-old Pembroke man reported he was attacked by a man known to him on Glebe Road on Wednesday evening.

The complainant said he was walking around 7 p.m. when the assailant, who is known to him, struck him in the face, causing a laceration below the right eye.

VANDAL TAKES AIM AT PTB BUS CRM Vandal takes aim at PTB bus Passengers escaped injury after a vandal threw a missile at a bus driving on North Shore Road.

The bus was approaching Midland Heights at 3.45 p.m. on Wednesday when a male threw a bottle at the bus, smashing a rear, left window.

The culprit fled the scene. Police are investigating the incident.

BUEI SHARK CAMPS START TODAY MUS CON BUEI shark camps start today The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute is holding the first of two Shark Camps today and tomorrow.

The camps will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with after-camp supervision offered until 5 p.m.

Topics and activities will include the types of sharks, shark anatomy and physiology with dissection, shark attacks -- the dos and don'ts -- prehistoric sharks with the making of large fossil cast Carcharodon Megalodon shark teeth, and `Survival Sharks' - dealing with the importance of sharks in the ocean food chain and their conservation.

The second camp will run on Tuesday and Wednesday November 14 and 15 at the same times.

THIEVES BUSY ACROSS ISLAND CRM Thieves busy across Island Cash was stolen from a room at a Pembroke guest house after a thief broke into a guest room.

The theft occurred last Friday evening after the guest left the room at Waterloo House secure.

A Sony video recorder and cash were taken from a church on Lighthouse Hill, St. George's. The culprit made an untidy search of the office at St. Luke's on Tuesday.

And a significant amount of cash was stolen from a house on North Hill, Pembroke, between Monday and Tuesday. The cash was taken from two separate locations in the property, leaving other property untouched.
