resulted in a 23-year-old father being sent to prison for three months.
Maxwell M. Smith, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to breaking into the lower apartment of Stephen Maughan, of Southampton, and stealing an array of jewellery.
Prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James said Maughan told Police he left his apartment locked on December 11.
When he returned home he noticed $40 was taken from a jar and jewellery, including some rings, a bracelet and a watch, were missing.
On December 13 Smith -- the father of a three-year-old -- was arrested and found in possession Maughan's watch.
Sgt. James said Smith admitted stealing the goods to Police and told them he sold all the other items, except the watch, to pay bills.
