jury was last week fined $150 in Magistrates' Court for using offensive words.

Kingsley Tucker, of Hermitage Road, Devonshire, originally pleaded not guilty and told the court that because of "the racial make-up of the Police department'' he would like to be tried in front of a jury.

Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. Edward King told Tucker he could not be tried in Supreme Court because his offence was summary which meant it could only be tried in a lower court.

Tucker changed his plea to guilty because he "could not be tried in the way he wanted''.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said that early on Thursday morning, Tucker had opened the doors of Hamilton Police Station and shouted "you bunch of jump-ups, why don't you get off the Island''.

Tucker continued to swear when Police officers stopped and arrested him.
