A government spokesperson said: "Householders are reminded that they are required by law to respond to the Census.

"Time is short and the Census Office requests that persons not postpone their interview when the enumerator visits.

"Once again, persons are reminded to keep their dogs restrained until the enumeration is complete for their building.'' Census enumerators will be carrying ID badges with the dates November 17 to February 28, 2001, on the reverse side.
