responsibility for tax collecting will now rest with the Tax Commissioner.

The Stamp Duties Amendment Act 1999 and The Foreign Currency Purchase Tax Amendment Act 1999 were both passed in the Senate.

In both instances the amendments transferred the responsibility of collection of taxes, from the Accountant General to the Tax Commissioner.

Ms Parris pointed out that the change was timely as the present Accountant General, Heather Matthews, will soon be taking up the post of Tax Commissioner.
