to fix a dangerous cliff on the railway trail in Southampton.

The unsafe section of the trail, near Five Star Island, has been cordoned off since last October and caused organisers of the charity End-to-End walk in May to plan a detour.

A 30-foot limestone cut in the wall is believed to have been caused after several landslides. A spokesperson for the Ministry yesterday said a new design had been produced which would require some minor excavation. The work will be done by the Ministry although there is no start date or estimate on how long the project will take.

"Works and Engineering hope to start the work soon and the job is not going to be a big one,'' the spokesperson said. "They are just waiting for the Minister's approval and he is currently off the Island.'' Works and Engineering Minister Alex Scott is expected back in Bermuda on September 7.
