Couple attacked on beach

launched an unprovoked attack on a local couple at Horseshoe Bay on Wednesday night around 11.30 p.m.

The male who was sitting with a female on Horseshoe Bay beach, was apparently set upon by an unknown man who suddenly started kicking him in the head.

According to Police, as the victim turned to see the assailant, the attacker demanded money and grabbed the victim's jacket. A struggle ensued but the attacker made good his escape with the jacket.

Police say there was no money in the jacket.

The attacker is described as a black male in his early 20s, with short curly hair. He was wearing knee length baggy shorts and was carrying a white T-shirt.

VISITOR'S BAG STOLEN CRM Visitors' bag stolen Two American visitors had their day spoiled when their beach bag was stolen at Chaplin Bay around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said two black males who left the area on a white Honda Scoopy are believed to have been the culprits. The bag contained two airline boarding passes, suntan lotion and two black swimsuits.

In separate incidents Police said a residence on Spice Hill Road in Warwick was unlawfully entered on Wednesday morning. Three packages of cigarettes and about $15 in coins were stolen from a bedroom.

Also on Wednesday, a property on Scenic Lane, Southampton was broken into and a gold chain and gold ear-rings removed from a bedroom.

Police are probing all the incidents.

UWP GOES TO DOCKYARD YTH CLB ENT UWP goes to Dockyard Sunday's Up With People performance in Dockyard promises to be a celebration of togetherness through the world's music.

Tour manager Kristie Clark said the performance, ROADS, tells the story of how much a group of young people can do with cooperation.

Each song follows the theme of unity and all 45 student cast members from 12 countries will sing and dance in a 90 minute performance.

"What we're saying to people is, `We all can make a difference','' Ane Elbirk, from Denmark said yesterday. "When audiences see these students rallying together, we hope they are moved to use teamwork to solve problems and address issues in their lives and communities.'' ROADS features performances of "Reach Out'', "Rise'', and "Where the Roads Come Together'' and "India''.

The music is infused by the rhythms of the world and some songs are sung in Dutch, Spanish, Gaelic, and an Indian language.

There is no admission charge to the performance which begins at 3 p.m.

CABINET THEFT BID FOILED CRM Cabinet theft bid foiled A duo apparently were caught redhanded trying to steal a pine kitchen cabinet from a home in Warwick.

Police report that a resident of Westering Lane in Warwick returned home at 10.40 p.m. on Wednesday night and was startled to see two thieves carrying the cabinet out of the house.

The thieves dropped the cabinet, jumped over a balcony and ran off. The homeowner unsuccessfully chased them.

WOMAN IS INJURED CRM Woman is injured A woman was detained in hospital following a domestic dispute involving her husband.

Police were called to a house at Pitts Bay Road at 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday after reports of an altercation.

The 37-year-old woman suffered injuries to her forehead, temple, mouth, eye and hand.

She was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and kept for observation.

CRUISE WORKER ROBBED CRM Cruise worker robbed A staff member from the cruise ship Horizon became the victim of a theft.

The man was riding a scooter on Somerset Road in Sandys Parish at 2.45 a.m. on Wednesday when an unknown man stopped him and stole a wallet from him. The assailant then escaped.

A man was arrested later. Police investigations continue.
