prison for importing $75,000 worth of drugs.

Ernell Z. Campbell, of Montego Bay, pleaded guilty last month to importing 250.3 grams of 79 percent pure cocaine last summer.

Crown Counsel Charlene Scott said Police entered a Court Street store on June 5, 1996 and confronted a man carrying a bag.

The bag contained two packages wrapped in brown tape and cellophane which contained cocaine.

The officers also searched Campbell, who was in the store at the time, and discovered that the inner soles of his sneakers were removable, Ms Scott said.

A search of Campbell's cabin, on board the cruise ship Dreamward , turned up four additional pairs of sneakers with removable inner soles.

Ms Scott added that Police also found $3,200 in US currency.

Campbell -- a wine steward -- admitted delivering the packages of cocaine to the man just moments before Police arrived at the store.

Defence lawyer Chris Lavigne told Puisne Judge Norma Wade that Campbell had cooperated with Police and will testify against the other individual involved in the case.

After listening to Campbell's apology, Mrs. Justice Wade jailed him for five years.
