ordered by Supreme Court to pay $252,728 to the Bank of Bermuda.

Mr. Gibbons, who plays cricket for Halesowen in England, was sued by the Bank in relation to a loan. It is not known what the loan was for.

Mr. Gibbons, 38, was not available for comment yesterday.

He is widely regarded as being one of Bermuda's best-ever all-round cricketers, having been a long-time player with Bailey's Bay County and Cricket Club.

He has represented Bermuda on several occasions, including the last four International Cricket Council tournaments, which qualify teams for the cricket World Cup.

He has been a star of the St. George's Cup Match side for more than two decades.

Mr. Gibbons joined Halesowen, in the English Midlands, last summer and immediately established himself as one of the most successful players in the Birmingham Conference League.

He plans to rejoin Halesowen for the start of the coming cricket season.
