Elbow Beach on Wednesday night was discovered to be a member of the country's parliament.

According to the newspaper Leichtensteiner Volksblatt of Schaan, 56-year-old Gebhard Hoch died of heart failure while on a business trip to the Island. He was staying at the Elbow Beach Hotel.

Mr. Hoch, a speaker for the opposition Progressive Citizens' Party (FBPL) faction, was a native of the Triesen region and is survived by a wife and daughter. It is not known if his family was with him on the Island.

An article in the Volksblatt said the politician had belonged to the Federal State Parliament since 1993 and was the faction speaker since 1997.
