A British tourist, Kent pleaded guilty to riding at 1.36 a.m. with a blood alcohol level of 164 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Police had followed him as he weaved about the road, as he headed for a friends home in Langton Hill Road, Pembroke.

Kent, 28, was fined $450 and banned from driving for 12 months, despite his intent to leave the Island next Friday.

And admitting she had 100 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood cost 53-year-old Sylvia Richardson $350 and a 12-month driving ban.

Richardson, of Chaingate Hill, Devonshire, pleaded guilty to the offence before Mr. Francis who heard that she was driving at 10.50 p.m. on July 6 on Middle Road, near the Rising Sun shop in Southampton.

When she was approached, Richardson told Police she was tired. Officers noticed the strong smell of alcohol coming from the car. Richardson admitted to Police she had an Amstel Light, a Heineken, and two miniature shots of Scotch whisky.

When she was arrested, Richardson told Police: "I'm glad you are taking me off the road.''
