they appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday on separate charges.

Customs officers found cannabis in Malissa Palmer's underwear and papers in one of her bags after she arrived at the airport on Tuesday afternoon, Prosecutor Sgt. Earl Kirby said.

The cannabis was later found to weigh 2 grammes. She had nothing to say to the court.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined her a total of $300. Mark Botelho was fined $300 for possessing 2.72 grammes of cannabis and $100 for having cigarette papers intended to smoke the drug with.

Sgt. Kirby said Botelho was searched by customs officers upon his arrival at the airport on Monday afternoon and a clear plastic bag containing the drug was found in his sock. The papers were found in his suitcase.

Botelho told the court he had been treated with the "utmost respect'' and was sorry for the offence.
