Even the people he locked up still greet him in the streets when he is visiting from his home in Florida.

Mr. Miller, 91, and his wife, Phoebe, are currently staying at the White Sands Hotel.

Mrs. Miller is a Bermudian having met Mr. Miller in 1929 and married him in January of 1931. He had arrived on the Island, from England, in 1928 as a Government employee.

He joined the force in 1930 and left in 1960, as a superintendent. He later he worked at J.E.Lightbourne, on Front Street, for 10 years.

The couple left the Island in 1985 but have been regular visitors on vacation.

Said Mrs. Miller: "We are still well known. Percy often meets people who tell him that he locked them up.'' The couple had three children -- their eldest son died -- 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

WELCOME HOME -- Former local Policeman Mr. Percy Miller, and his wife, Phoebe, are enjoying a return visit to the Island.
