Jerome E. Dublin, 16, of North Shore, Pembroke, and Melvin E. Symonds, 17, of Glebe Road, Pembroke, both pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to unlawfully assaulting the 14-year-old school girl.

The offence took place during a lunch break at the unnamed school on December 13 last year.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said the complainant was having lunch with other female students in the school's art room.

The girls were trying to keep some male students out of the room, he added, when Dublin and Symonds pushed their way into the room.

Both Dublin and Symonds held the girl down while another male student, not before the court, touched her, Sgt. Grant said.

When later interviewed separately by Police both boys said "they were only playing with her''.

Dublin and Symonds, who had no offences of a similar nature, had nothing to say in court.

"This is a serious matter. You're not playing dolls or doctor with a girl of that age,'' Mrs. Mapp told the two teenagers before referring them to Probation Services for a social inquiry report.

She granted each of the boys bail in the sum of $500 with a like surety, and ordered them to return to court on June 9.
