Winfield was not prepared to say why.

Sen. Wendell Hollis (UBP) attacked the PLP for saying it would impose a moratorium on status and then pleading the case of Portuguese residents.

The PLP position on Portuguese residents was not going to be easily taken by the public.

"It's like the leader of the Serbs saying they will take care of the Bosnians.'' Sen. Maxwell Burgess accused the Opposition of receiving complaints from constituents and then making them wait until it had used the complaints for political grandstanding.
