Bureaus after the Chamber of Commerce said it could no longer carry the burden.

The Visitors' Service Bureaus, which are located in Hamilton, St. George's, the airport and Dockyard, have been running at an operating loss which has been met by the chamber.

In 1999 this loss was $39,309, and helped leave the chamber running at a loss of $56,466 for the year.

In 2000 the cost increased to $42,159 for the year, and took potential profits of nearly $90,000 down to $45,782.

But now the Department of Tourism has stepped in and will fund the service, leaving a zero cost to the chamber.
