Mr. Robinson and an executive committee of the hotel's board on Friday concluded they could no longer work with each other.

Board members refused to comment on the development on Friday. However, it is understood they disagreed with Mr. Robinson on issues related to the operation of the hotel.

Sources said the hotel's recent battles with the BIU had nothing to do with the issues between the hotelier and his board.

Last night Mr. Robinson would only say: "The Board wants to go one way and I in another. So we agreed not to continue on together.'' Mr. Robinson, 50, managed the 200-room Hamilton Parish hotel since 1984. It was bought by a local group in 1989 that includes Dr. James King, Mr. Ralph Terceira, Mr. Earnest DeCouto MP and the Hon. Ralph Marshall, the Transport Minister.
