The 60-page report entitled "A Historical Review of the Bermuda Police Service: 1879-1999'' was tabled in the Lower House for Members of Parliament to peruse.

The document spans 12 decades and catalogues the growth of the Service since its establishment in August, 1879, when the Legislature passed the Police Establishment Act.

Some individual Police officers receive particular mention through the document as do noteworthy cases from years past.

Significant moments including the first Police car, the first Blue Heron Police boat, and the first overseas recruits also receive attention.

And the more pleasant side of Police work -- involvement in the community and sports -- gets its own section and closes out the report.
