The break-in was believed to have taken place around 1.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said: "The culprits apparently forced entry into the premises and smashed open the cash register which was empty.'' Nothing was believed to have been stolen from the restaurant on the South Shore Road, opposite Horseshoe Bay Beach.

Anyone who can assist Police in the investigation is asked to contact Western CID on 234-1010.

Police also suggested that business owners should leave empty cash register drawers open when their premises are closed.

"In addition,'' P.c. Venning said, "a light should be strategically placed to show the cash register is empty. This may help to deter potential criminals and prevent unnecessary damage in the event of a break-in. He also noted that anonymous information on this incident or any other crime may be passed to Police through Crimestoppers by calling 1-800-623-TIPS.
