The most recent call to the Bermuda Bar Association turned out to be a real family affair.

Braxton Philip and Donald Adderley last week became the latest additions to the local legal fraternity.

And both men are helping to create a new generation of legal dynasties built solidly on brotherly love. Mr. Philip's two brothers, Carlsen and Anthony, and his first cousin Sonia Grant who made the application, are lawyers.

And Mr. Adderley is also following in his brother Cameron's legal footsteps.

But don't expect any sibling rivalry in these families; for guidance and support are the law of the land.

Mr. Adderley will even work alongside his brother in the Corporate department of Appleby, Spurling and Kempe.

And during the ceremony, before Puisne Judge Norma Wade-Miller, both men extended heartfelt thanks to their siblings and their families for helping them to realise their dreams.

Mr. Philip, a former tailor and a member of the St. Vincent legal community, will be pursuing a career in personal injury law.

Despite their love of the law, neither men are solely confined to their wigs and robes. Both are well-rounded individuals who have represented their country proudly.

Mr. Philip represented Bermuda at the World Karate Championships in Madrid, Spain while Mr. Adderley played for the National Rugby team.

Mrs. Justice Wade-Miller urged the pair not to be put off by suggestions that there were too many lawyers on the Island.

"Remember that cream floats to the top,'' she said. "And I'm sure both of you will float.'' FAMILY WAY -- Anthony, Braxton, Carlsen Philip.
